Thankful Thursday: Inaugural Edition
I have wanted to start sharing more personal things on my blog for while. I have a tendency to toss ideas around in my head for months before taking the leap of action. Thinking everything through is a strong point for me, calculating all parts is my thing, but sometimes a strength can also be a weakness. I’ll consider everything and if there’s enough negative possibilities I may decide against it. Anyways, Thankful Thursdays has been on my mind and I’m giving myself the green light! I hope to share a variety of things like our travels, Elijah, and fun thoughts. Here we go!
As I laid my 8-week-old son down for a morning nap and quietly stepped out of his room. I had a clear thought that was not from me. “Spend time with me.” Well that’s hard to argue with, so I went to my Jesus Calling Devotional.
“This is a time of abundance in your life. Your cup runneth over with blessings. After plodding uphill for many weeks, you are now traipsing through lush meadows drenched in warm sunshine. I want you to enjoy to the full this time of ease and refreshment. I delight in providing it for you.”
Wait, what? How’d You know? After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I read it again. Plodding uphill. Yes that was me! The last weeks of pregnancy, a difficult delivery, the first weeks of my son’s life. Uphill is a gentle way to describe it! It’s wild how thousands of people can have this same devotional book, but that entry was meant for me.
My God is always generous, but I am not always grateful. Goodness, I’m not always aware of His generosity. We are to be grateful in all things, while plodding uphill and in the lush meadows. I don’t deserve anything from His hands, but I will receive His blessings with an attentive, grateful heart.
